Does AgeSpan offer an Internet Service?

Yes, and we’re constantly comparing it to all of the other guys and we like the results!  Unlike them, we don’t sell your private information, we don’t litter our website with advertisements, we don’t allow pop-ads, and we don’t allow companies who put cookies on your machines for future spam emails.

What are the fees to use AgeSpan’s Internet Service?

AgeSpan has two dial-up Internet programs.  The economical program is only $15.95 per month, no contracts, unlimited use, 5 email addresses for you and your family members, web mail on AgeSpan’s award winning website, and 5 MB of web space.  You will surf the Internet at about 60 kilobytes per second (kbps), which is still 2 to 3 times faster than Earthlink, AOL, Yahoo, NetZero, Sprint, AT&T, MCI, MSN, and all of the other nationally advertised brands.

The second, and most popular program is only $19.95 per month, no contracts, unlimited use, 5 email addresses for you and your family members, , web mail on AgeSpan’s award winning website ,and 5 MB of web space.  But we include web based Spam Filters to block out unwanted and unsolicited emails, a pop-up ad killer to make surfing the Internet easier, and a firewall so that malicious hackers will not have access to your computer (about $150 of software).  But the neatest part about this program is that you will surf the Internet at around 350 – 400 kbps that is faster than most cable modem and DSL services and up to 20 times faster than those other popular dial-up services!

And whether you choose the economical program or the affordable popular program, AgeSpan bills you via your credit card so that you don’t have to worry about a paper bill sent to you.  You will receive an email from our accounting department reminding you that we will be billing your credit card for the next month of Internet service.  It’s that easy!

I live in Canada six months of the year and live in Florida the other half of the year; do you provide Internet Service in both locations?

Yes, AgeSpan currently has over 53,000 phone numbers in both the 50 states and we cover a good area of Canada also.  This is perfect for Snowbirds who don’t want to hassle with starting up a new Internet Service when they move back and forth throughout the year.  Just go to AgeSpan’s home page and click on ACCESS NUMBERS at the top of the page and enter your area code to find local listings in your area.

Do you have a free sign-up disk?

We currently do not have a sign-up disk.  It is on the drawing board for the future.

How then do I get on AgeSpan’s Internet service?

If you are comfortable with using menus and answering questions, it’s really a pretty simple process.  If you get stuck, you can always contact AgeSpan’s home office at 619-795-4545 or our toll-free 24/7 technical support line at 1-800-804-4419 and they can assist you.  You just will want to read each and every question carefully before hitting the enter button.  You will also need to know a little about creating a dial-up networking (DUN) icon on your desktop.  Each operating system (windows98, ME, XP, etc.) is different.  It’s best to prepare yourself beforehand by selecting your start button and then help.  Just type in DUN in the find area and teach yourself something new.

Otherwise, if you live within 30 miles of Sarasota, Florida, an AgeSpan representative will come to your home and install the Internet Service for free.

Does it cost anything for AgeSpan to install the Internet Service?

If you live within 30 miles of Sarasota, Florida, the installation is free.  If you live between 31 miles and 60 miles of Sarasota, it will cost you $25 to have the representative to come and install the Internet Service on your computer.  This charge is to cover the time and gasoline costs.

What would I use the Internet for?

I use Outlook to send and receive emails; can I still use it instead of the web mail found on the AgeSpan home page?

Yes, any email program that has the capability to put in POP and SMTP information can be used along with or instead of AgeSpan’s web based email service.  We do however, caution you to make sure that you have a virus protection program such as Norton’s Antivirus program installed on your computer though.

I want to switch to AgeSpan but I don’t want to tell all of my friends my new email address, do you have a solution?

Yes, just go to www.trueswitch.com and download their free program that will forward your emails from your old Internet Service (such as AOL) to your AgeSpan email account for 30 days.  The software will then email all of your address book email addresses your new email address for thirty days.  And this free software program will even remind you after 21 days to cancel your old account, just in cast you forgot to.  How easy is that?
