AgeSpan, Inc.
Our Privacy Policy

(Please take a look at "Understanding Privacy Policies and Internet Information" below to learn more.)

We firmly believe in your privacy and the security of your personal information. We are committed to using any information you give us in a responsible manner. You're very important to us and we want to provide you a safe and secure online experience.

We recommend many sites, however, and cannot vouch for them all! As hard as it may be to do so, you should closely look into the privacy policy and statements of any site with which you want to do business or sign up with for any benefits.

Look for "BBB", "Trust-e", "VeriSign" and other such logos on web site front pages as an assurance of reputability. You can also use BizRate.com to look into sites you want to do e-commerce with and see what other users say (how they rate the site). We follow these practises as often as possible when recommending sites, but cannot guarantee that we have done so for all links here.

AgeSpan, Inc. will not sell or give your information to any third party that is not closely affiliated with AgeSpan, such as a cornerstone partner or sponsor. (We will not give or sell your information to anyone for advertising purposes without your permission.)

How do web sites use my information when I sign up as a member or to buy something?

The information web sites receive allows them to tailor their site and improve your shopping experience, making it easier and more enjoyable. The information you volunteer enables them to process your purchases, confirm your orders, customize the content and layout of their pages, notify you about updates to their sites and products, and provide you with marketing information.

The information you supply to them is added to their customer database. Web sites also may provide your name, postal address and perhaps your email address to other companies whose products you may find of interest, or perhaps sell your information to others for advertising purposes.

You may receive periodic mailings or telephone calls from them about new products and services, discounts, special promotions or upcoming events. If you do not want to receive such mailings or telephone calls from them , you must often look for a way to tell them that you do not want to be solicited. This is usually easy to do, but you must keep an eye out for the place to do so - often a 'check box' on the sign-up form.

In some instances, web sites use third party companies to help them provide their products and services to you. Some of these companies are given access to some, or all, of the information you provide to them and may use cookies. On most reputable sites, these companies are contractually restricted from using your information in any manner other than in helping them to provide you with products and services available on their site.

What information do web sites collect about me?

Every time you visit Web sites at which you have registered, that site may automatically collect your Internet service provider's address, the Web page from which you came, and a record of your activity on their site. Reputable sites do not use this information to identify you personally.

When you purchase from their site or request a catalog, web sites collect information that you volunteer such as your name, email address, postal address, phone number and other information necessary to process your order or send you the catalog.

Web sites also collect the information you provide to them when you register for "My Account", participate in a contest or sweepstakes promotion, fill out a survey or questionnaire, or contact them (for example via Email or "Live Chat".)

What are 'cookies' and how do sites use them?

A "cookie" is a small data file that contains a unique identifier. Cookies can be used to store personal information about you, right on your computer. Cookies are also used to "connect" your computer to information stored in a separate location. At reputable web site , cookies connect your computer with the information web sites store for you in their database. Some examples of this data include your account preferences, items added to your shopping cart, user specific information on pages accessed and previous visits to their site. Your information is stored in a safe and secure database. Reputable web sites do not use cookies to store any of your personal or financial information on your computer.

Web sites recognize that you have a choice to refuse cookies. However, by choosing to accept a reputable web sites cookie, they can maintain the preferences stored in your account and process your order. If you choose not to accept the cookie, purchasing is usually not possible.

How can I update my information?

Reputable web sites provide you access to the following information if you send them an email, call them or write to them :

financial information (such as credit card account information)

unique identifier information (customer number or password)

transaction information (dates on which you made purchases, amounts and types of purchases)

contact information (name, address, phone number)

Good sites evaluate each request and will reply in an appropriate manner and in a form of communication that ensures the security of the information you have requested.

How do I know my information is secure?

Good web sites have appropriate security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information collected from you so you can feel comfortable and secure when shopping. When you see either a solid key icon or a locked padlock icon at the lower portion of your browser window then the site is secured through Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). These web sites use industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving your personal information on their site. Pages requesting personal information should always have one of these icons. If you do not see one of these icons, try to contact them to complete your transaction over the phone.
